The Carmen Golf Society

The Carmen Golf Society is open to any one in the Livery. Currently there are some 60 members.

The main events are;

  • The Prince Arthur Trophy - played at Walton Heath.

    (Teams of 4 from 60 Livery Companies take part in what's believed to be the largest one day competition in the country - they play 36 holes of foursomes for the prestigious "Prince Arthur Trophy." Only those Livery Companies whose teams finish in the top 40 are automatically selected the following year - the other 20 teams being selected by ballot - a poor finish could see the team out of the competition for many years. In 2003 the Carmen finished 2nd.)

  • The RLC Match against the Royal Logistic Corps and the Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers, played at the Army Golf Club, Aldershot late July or early August.

  • The Annual Golf Day normally takes place in early September - open to all including a few guests - always a relaxed and enjoyable day.

  • The Annual Dinner normally takes place mid February at the George Inn, Borough High Street.

The current officers are;

  • President - The Master
  • Vice-Presidents - Jeremy Gotch, John Ratcliffe, Nick Meyer, Telfer Saywell, Bruce Owen & Jim Lockhart
  • Chaiman - David Bluett
  • Captain - Charles Noble
  • Vice-Captain - Geoff Cook
  • Hon. Sec. - Neil Coles
