The Princess Royal Gold Medal

...is given for distinguished service to the Company by a Carman, over time or by an extraordinary single endeavour.

2004John Peters Wellsfor distinguished service, in a family tradition, over 59 years, steering the Company through troubled times; as an innovative Master who instigated now traditional events, introduced the first Royal Master, created the Past Masters' Committee, laid down modern Court procedures, formulated current committee structures, and promoted awards, for seven years as Chairman; served as Trustee of the London Cartage Fund, Carmen's Benevolent Fund and later Trust; Donation Governor of Christ's Hospital, co-founder of Carmen's lectures and first Apprentice Master of a lady.
2001Lt Col FE Coxhead, MBEfor exceptional and exemplary service as Hon Almoner, guardian of traditions, innovator, Senior Past Master, Benevolent Trustee, Honorary Liveryman 67 years, Assistant 56 years and Past Master 52 years.
