Carmen's Joint Services Dinner
Drapers' Hall

The Carmen held their annual Joint Services Dinner in the magnificent Drapers' Hall on Tuesday 16 April 2019, with the Master Stephen Britt presiding, attended by the Wardens, Colonel Simon Bennett TD VR and Peter Cordrey. The event started with a Court meeting at 3.30pm in which three of the Award winners were given the Honorary Freedom of the Company. The Master's Apprentice was given the Freedom of the Company by Servitude and five people were clothed, Alan Dean, Alfie Hyatt, Rupert Lyons, John Mackenzie and James Richmond. A champagne reception followed at 6.30pm before Past Master HRH the Princess Royal arrived and was met by the Master and Clerk as well as the Clerk of the Drapers' Company, The Princess had the chance to speak with all the Award winners during the reception. Later in the evening she presented the Company’s Military Awards to the Sword of Honour winner and Soldier of the Year from the Royal Logistic Corps; The Royal Navy Cup and Royal Navy Medal, The RAF Cup and RAF Medal, 2 Mechanical Squadron and RAF and the 19 Tank Transporter Sqn award. The RLC Safety Award was presented to the SOE IRTE and a special award was given to Simon King and Dave Myers "The Hairy Bikers". Vice Admiral Sir David Steel responded to the Master’s toast to the Armed Forces and also proposed the traditional Carmen toast. Full pictures from this event are now available in the Members Area.
