Worshipful Company of Carmen

scite, cito, certe — skilfully, swiftly, surely

The Carmen held their annual July Court meeting which was followed by Hustings and then the election for new Court Assistants. There were two vacancies and four candidates standing for election which proved in favour of Liverymen Andrew Miles and Graham Hayden. Commiserations to the two who did not make it this year and we hope that they will both consider to stand again in the future.

During the Court meeting we bound two new Apprentices, Curtis & Sophia Bushell and clothed two new Liverymen, Peter Page and Stephen Harley.

Also, in recognition of our common roots as Woodmongers, the Master Fueller, Mr Shravan Joshi CC, was clothed with the Honorary Livery of the Company. It was agreed at the April Court meeting that the Master of the Worshipful Company of Fuellers would become an Honorary Liveryman of the Carmen Company whilst holding that position. The Master Carman was given this honour at the Fuellers last Court meeting in June and the same will be applied to future Master Carmen.

Below are a number of pictures of the day.

Also in attendance was the Clerk-Elect, Captain Julian Litchfield RN, who will take over from the current Clerk, Mr Walter Gill, when he retires on 16 October 2019.
